Closure of North Shore Womens Centre
It is with great sadness that we announce the permanent closure of the North Shore Women’s Centre on 28th November 2025. After 38 years of supporting, advocating for, and empowering women across the North Shore, the Centre will close its doors due to unavoidable financial and operational challenges.
We are incredibly proud of the work we’ve done and deeply grateful to the women, volunteers, staff and community members who have made this Centre a place of strength and safety for nearly four decades.
Between now and November, we will continue to support women in our community and provide services. As we approach the end of the year, we will endeavour to work with community partners to ensure ongoing care and connection.
Thank you for being part of our journey. Your trust, courage and solidarity will always be the Centre’s greatest legacy.
December 2024
The Centre will close on Thursday 19th December 2024, re-opening on Monday 20th January 2025. The legal clinic will commence on 4th February 2025.
August 2024
You may be aware, through recent media coverage, that funding for our counselling and social work services has been cut by Oranga Tamariki. We are not alone – hundreds of NGO’s are facing similar challenges.
Should the funding landscape remain unchanged in April 2025 then we will have no option but to look at wind-down/closure.
However, until then, we remain fully operational with no changes to hours or service delivery and we can assure our community that any notice of closure will be communicated to all our stakeholders
